The new year is the time everyone starts to think about how they can improve on their health. Healthy smoothies are a great way to get in some of your five a day, and can even help you to shed the pounds. So we’ve put together a list of some of the best healthy smoothies that you can try out this new year.
- The green smoothie
This smoothie is a delicious way to get in your leafy greens.
You will need:
2 medium sized ripe bananas
1 ripe pear or apple, peeled and sliced
2 cups chopped kale leaves with the tough stems removed
½ cup of cold orange juice
½ cup of cold water
12 ice cubes
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
To prepare:
Simply place the bananas, pear or apple, kale, orange juice, water, ice cubes and flaxseed into your blender. Pulse a few times, and then puree the mixture until smooth.
- Strawberry and kiwi smoothie
This recipe is high in fibre, helping you to stay fuller for longer.
You will need:
1¼ cup of cold apple juice
1 ripe banana, sliced
1 kiwi, sliced
5 frozen strawberries
1½ tablespoon of honey
To prepare:
Simply blend the apple juice, banana, kiwi, strawberries, and honey.
- Green tea fruit smoothie
This smoothie will give you a burst of antioxidants, to start your day off right.
You will need:
2 cups of frozen mixed fruit, including peaches and pineapple
1 cup of cold green tea
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
To prepare:
All you need to do is combine the ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Raspberry and avocado surprise
Make use of the fruit of the moment, avocado, in this delicious smoothie.
You will need:
1 avocado, peeled and pitted
¾ cup of raspberry juice
¾ cup of orange juice
½ of frozen raspberries
To prepare:
Blend ingredients until smooth. Serve immediately.
- Healthy apple and peanut butter smoothie
Apple and peanut butter marry together in this delicious but healthy treat.
You will need:
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 small sized apple, sliced
2 tablespoons of all-natural peanut butter
2 teaspoons honey (optional)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
4-6 ice cubes
To prepare:
Put the almond milk, apple, peanut butter, honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon and ice cubes into your blender and puree until smooth.
